A Few of My New Pots and a Some Nice Etsy Goods

So I have been pretty busy lately on that same project that I didn't tell you about in my last post. It's still a little secret. I do however have some pieces I just posted in my shop that I have gotten from the kiln today as well as earlier in the week. I am so incredibly sick of making these small  candle holders, so I will only post one of those here, but you can always check out all my other ones in my shop.

These are few new pieces, and if you would like to see more, check out my shop www.lizetpotterystudio.etsy.com What I am really excited about though are some small bottles I have been working on. They are very small (about the size of my hand) and when I made them they seemed like a dumb idea, but I was so sick of small candle holders! So in between making a large batch of 12 oz candle holders, I would grab the next ball and sometimes I just made something different. The bottles have a small neck and they are rounded like a bud vase. The other night I was in the middle of glazing and decided to take another break from the candle holders. I ended up taking my fine tips out and spent almost 3 hours on one of the small  bud vases. It turned out looking like lace and although my hand became very stiff by the end of the night, I had so much fun making it! Below are some pieces that have inspired me in a way to make them and I can't wait to show you the finished products. The pottery is from Etsy shops and I think they are beautiful!

Little of This, Little of That

I have been busy with a very good task I have been working on, which I will post the details on later. I have been making many many small candle holders. I mean assembly line type of work here. I try to make as many as possible and will show you my little army of small simple candle holders when I get them out on Monday. Some glazed and some yet to be. Yesterday I took a lot (I wish I would have counted, maybe like 30 pieces) to the kiln, so what I have to share today are a few older pieces that you may have seen as bisque ware in my previous posts.

Here are two pieces that I have complete that will be dry and ready to fire next Monday. I wanted to try and make a teapot that wasn't round and had an attached handle. The smaller vase below it has a new texture that I discovered. It looks like a steel drum. I can't wait to use it some more and see how it looks once it's glazed.

Where Have I Been?

Yeah I know that I haven't wrote anything in quite a while. So sorry to my 8 followers! Haha! Oh yeah, and I haven't been anywhere in case you were wondering with my title and all. I've just been making some pots, glazing, and oh yeah that nice globe sized pot in the previous post exploded in the kiln! That one along with another very nice large pitcher. I'm not very sure why, but they were my fist large pots. I think they weren't fully dry. Oh wait, come to think of it I was someplace. Last Friday I was part of an artist walk and had my stuff set up in a nice little store called The Blue Pear. It turned out pretty well and I left some of my pots there in the store too. I was pretty busy getting ready for that with bags and inventory and packaging 30 pots to go to their show.

So here are few pots that are ready to get fired. I am pretty nervous about the two larger ones, because of what happened to my other big ones. I will keep my fingers crossed. The teapot will not get its bamboo handle until after it's second firing. I like the way it turned out, it looks like Aladdin's lamp kinda.

I have also been working on tapering bottle necks. They take me a long time to make, so I want to get my technique down so I can make them a lot faster. Below are 2 bottles that I have modified. One is carved to look like wood and the other was squared. the squared one reminds me of I dream of Jeanie lamp...but square. I can't wait to get these babies glazed!
